His nickname is "Shoehorn." He's a sax playin' tap dancing street performer who I always run into whenever I start to feel that the magic has left Portland. His wonderful antics always help to restore that sense of magic. This is accompanied by audio recorded at the scene.
On a recent trip to Portugal, I made it a point to sketch the various musicians I encountered. In particular, those who played "Fado" music. Fado is the emotional music important to the culture of Portugal. I kept a record of theses drawings in an accordion fold sketchbook, a format of which I've grow rather fond.
